The Flat seems scarily like home now.
It still has a long way to go to come even close to the Old One. But someday, perhaps 10 years down the line, I see a faint possibility that it might.
That would be a day of much heartbreak, though. I am sure I shall end up feeling like a rootless idiot.

erm, why? how would you end up being rootless if you develop a home?

mebbe the fear of involuntarily being disloyal to the old home in the process of accustoming oneself to the 'new flat'?

flats my friend are just flats....they can never be homes...only houses can be homes...
